I have been drawing and painting throughout my life. Art has always been my passion. Early on I found I had talent in the visual arts and went briefly to art school in NYC. Throughout my life I have always been in the arts. Mainly my career has been as an Art consultant where I helped corporations and healthcare facilities choose art for their business office environment. For the past few years, I have enjoyed being creative with my art.

I began this still-life study of Empty Beach Chairs in earnest six years ago to catalogue the changes the coast goes through as it cycles through the elements and time. My photography catalogue has grown to include other nature scapes I find inspiring. The famous minimalist artist Donald Judd craft was a large influence. To observe a chair as a piece of art, as sculpture, vacant in nature or in use. As a fifth generation Stuart native, I feel my work would be complimentary to the other fellows.

I was born in mainland China. When I was 5 years old I moved to Hong Kong. While in elementary school I did some painting, but I was not sure whether I liked it or not. When I was 30 years old I immigrated to New York with my son. As a single mother I had to make a living so had no time go to school to learn English. I simply learned from talking to people at work. After retiring , I told myself I wanted to change my life, so I moved to Florida by my self. One day while shopping with my friend we passed an art gallery, my friend recommended that maybe I should learn to paint, I said “no, I don’t think I can do it “. The owner in the gallery said she could teach me because she had a studio class. She recommended I try one month, I did. From that time I loved the oil painting because when I am doing oil painting I totally relax myself and forget all my worries. I feel like I have found this new life I was looking for with the painting.
