Amy Clark
Once, in middle school, a cousin asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I told her that I was going to be a band director. She said I couldn’t because it was a “man’s job.” I told her that I’d just have to change that. I later found out that there were, in fact, women band directors but at that time I felt like I would be a musical pioneer. Highlights of my career as Band Director include developing and maintaining a high-level performance ensemble, named as Teacher of the Year by my peers twice at Murray Middle, and as Middle School Teacher of the Year by the Martin County School District. Most important has been the positive connections with thousands of students throughout my 28-year tenure.
