For the creative spirit, art is more than producing something, it’s a way of thinking, a mindset, an impetus to creative acts. We can’t not do it. By teaching art to middle and high schoolers I passed on this passion. I was delighted to see their creative spirits fueled, budding art goggles firmly secured and activated, brains expanding from the inside. In no time, the classroom was bursting with inventive and expressive projects. Their eyes gleamed as they created and built and told me “This class is the highlight of my week.” My current painting is designed to communicate the need to support water restoration in Martin County. In 2023, I launched a long-term project to create an exhibit “Tides of Change: An Artist’s Perspective” in partnership with The Elliott Museum, which will host an exhibit of my paintings of the surrounding endangered wildlife and habitat.
