Access to the Arts

The Access to the Arts Listening Sessions emerged from the creation of the MartinArts Strategic 3-Year Plan in 2022. Increasing accessibility to the arts, particularly in underserved neighborhoods in Martin County, was identified as a priority for the organization. Three listening sessions were hosted in Banner Lake (April 2023), east Stuart (June 2023), and Indiantown (August 2023).

Three guiding questions were developed to lead conversation in the listening sessions:

  • What do the arts mean to you?
  • What barriers or obstacles prevent you from engaging in the arts?
  • What kind of art experiences would you like to see in your community?

The Access to the Arts Committee will continue to learn the needs of our community related to arts programming and accessibility. If you live in one of the following neighborhoods, join us at an upcoming Neighborhood Advisory Committee meeting!

  • Port Salerno, August 8
  • Jensen Beach, September 4
  • Hobe Sound, September 11
  • Rio, September 26
  • Golden Gate, October 7
  • Old Palm City, October 21
