Jean-Paul van Boxtel

Artist Statement

Artist, teacher, author.
Painting, but also teaching, has been my work, profession, and passion for more than 30 years. I wrote for Atelier magazine for 20 years, was an artist at Winsor & Newton for 10 years, gave workshops and demos for them in shops and academies. In that time two of my books have been published, ‘The Power of Acrylics’, and ‘The Power of Color’. The former has been translated into English and entitled ‘Incredible Acrylics’ for worldwide distribution. In addition, I have been giving masterclasses in France, (the Dordogne), Italy (Tuscany), and Germany (Rhein), for more than 10 years, and I have had students both in my studio and at home for more than 30 years.
I have exhibited my work in and around Europe with installations in various venues – town halls, gallery spaces, church spaces, and art marketplaces.
I have developed my 'own doctrine' that, although it uses old wisdoms, distinguishes itself in clarity.
