Kate Gouery
I was raised in the Northeast where I also attended college, graduated with a degree in fine arts and started a family. In University I was drawn to painting and printmaking and then a professor recommended me for a very unique studio that made high end sculptures for themed hotels and restaurants like the Venetian and DisneyWorld. I had a blast doing this work exercising creativity and problem solving. At this time I also became fell in love with pottery and the wood fire experience. After a few years of classes, I worked as a studio tech for 2 years creating, mixing clay and glazes, and firing student work and my own.
Once we moved to Florida and homeschooled our children I taught an elementary/middle school art class for ten years pulling from many resources and my own experience. My students were often reminded that the only rules are #1 try again and #2 help clean up.
I still love to paint as you'll see and my pottery will be making a comeback as I get set up!
