Artist Statement

My artwork is a fusion of traditional and experimental media. My recent work incorporates collage with fiber, hand painted fabric, printmaking, photography and hand stitching. The color palette is inspired by the colors of nature, with contrast created by the juxtaposition of texture and media.

My art making process has become quite intuitive. This approach is often the inspiration for my collage work, whether it is with paper, fabric or mixed media. For my fiber collage pieces, I hand paint natural fabrics and cheesecloth with acrylics and watercolor. Color families emerge, a collage begins, and I begin to stitch.

Inspiration for my work is creativity in the purist form: the act of the creative process. I enjoy experimenting with a variety of mediums and the discovery that comes with that experimentation.
