The Actor's Nightmare / The Zoo Story
TWO PLAYS PRESENTED AT EACH PERFORMANCE
THE ACTOR'S NIGHTMARE - Comedy by Christopher Durang
Directed by Kevin Korman
This play was inspired by the haunting dream that many actors have had: that they must perform in a play that they have never rehearsed and for which they know neither the lines nor the plot. In this play George is an accountant who wanders onto an empty stage, not certain where he is or how he got there. The stage manager informs him he’s the understudy—and must go on in a few minutes!
THE ZOO STORY - Drama by Edward Albee
Directed by Pat Burgemeister
No one writes loneliness better than Edward Albee. Two men sit on a bench in Central Park. An uppity businessman is taking a break from his day. A man approaches, appears a bit like a vagabond. He wants to talk. The businessman wants to ignore. At the play’s core is the desire for connection. Albee works around symbolism and an undercurrent of stagnation in which people end up during their lifetimes. Breathtaking piece full of imagination, realism and insanity, plus an end that neither see coming.
